CALOOCAN CITY – The Caloocan City government announced on Wednesday that at least 6 barangays in the city have passed the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB).

The villages that now hold the SGLGB seal are Barangays 67, 170, 176, 177, 178, and 182. These barangays were inspected and validated by a team that included representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Liga ng mga Barangay, the Barangay Secretariat, and the Rotary Club-Kalookan North.

To earn the SGLGB, barangays must demonstrate excellence in the core areas of Peace and Order, Financial Administration, and Disaster Preparedness.

Delighted by this achievement, Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan personally honored the barangay officials and praised their teams for the high level of service they have provided to the people of Caloocan.

“Surely, our services to the people of Caloocan will continue for the progress of the city. We hope the honor received by the six barangays will serve as an inspiration to other public servants in Caloocan,” Mayor Malapitan said.

This recognition for the 6 barangays comes just days after the Caloocan City government, through its Environment and Management Department, led a major cleanup drive involving over 360 volunteers across 5 barangays – 14, 16, 18, 20, and 22. The Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources also participated in the cleanup program initiated by Mayor Malapitan.

The mayor expressed his delight at the level of community participation and expressed hope that more residents would join future cleanup efforts to keep Caloocan City’s environment clean and well-maintained.
