7 Pampanga Barangays Earn Seal of Good Local Governance

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Seven villages in the province of Pampanga have been named national passers of the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLG-B), officials announced on Wednesday.

The barangays of Del Pilar, Maimpis and Saguin in the City of San Fernando, along with San Bartolome, San Matias, San Vicente and Sapa in the municipality of Sto. Tomas, all met the requirements to receive the prestigious SGLG-B seal.

These 7 barangays are part of the total 51 villages in Central Luzon that were recognized as SGLG-B national passers this year.

The SGLG-B is an award program established by the national government to encourage local government units (LGUs) to continuously improve their performance across various areas of governance.

To earn the SGLG-B seal, barangays must demonstrate excellence in financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, health services, education, business-friendliness, peace and order, environmental management, tourism, and youth development.

“Receiving the SGLG-B seal is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the barangay officials and community members in these 7 villages,” said Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda. “It shows their commitment to upholding the principles of good local governance for the benefit of their constituents.”

The SGLG-B program is part of the national government’s broader efforts to raise governance standards and empower barangays across the Philippines. The recognition serves as an incentive for barangays to sustain their positive performance and continue innovating their service delivery.
