TALISAY CITY – Up to 17 barangays in Talisay City have qualified for the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), according to Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas.

The barangays awarded the 2023 SGLGB seal are Bulacao, Cadulawan, Cansojong, Jaclupan, Lagtang, Lawaan I, Linao, Manipis, Mohon, Lawaan II, Lawaan III, Pooc, San Isidro, Tabunok, Tapul, Biasong and Camp IV. This represents the highest number of passing barangays for any city or municipality confirmed by the DILG.

In a statement, DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. said the SGLGB is a performance assessment and recognition system designed to distinguish barangays with outstanding performance across various governance areas, including financial administration, emergency preparedness, and peace and order maintenance.

Although Mayor Gullas is currently on leave, he took to social media to extend his congratulations to the city’s high-performing barangays.

“I would like to congratulate our 17 Barangays in the city who have been awarded as the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays by the Department of Interior and Local Government,” Gullas said in his message.

The impressive showing by Talisay City underscores the local government’s commitment to promoting good governance and high standards of service delivery at the barangay level. With 17 seal recipients, the city has emerged as a model for effective decentralized governance in the region.
